The Hortgro Stone Fruit Seminar and Orchard Walk is part of the biannual Hortgro Technical Symposium, that took place in June 2024. Holding the day in November as opposed to June, allow attendees to see the stone fruit on the trees and discuss issues relevant to the specific growing season.

Details about the event
The Stone Fruit Seminar and Orchard Walk will take place on 12 November 2024.
The programme for the day was compiled by stone fruit expert and technical consultant, Charl Stander, from Freshness First. It includes information and new findings on the control of nematodes and a presentation about new pests that are relevant to the stone fruit industry. A panel discussion with industry experts, Prof Emer Karen Theron, Hendrik Pohl and Bennie Diedericks on cover crops and their role in pollination and soil health will follow. Practical demonstrations of various aspects of orchard management in three orchards will conclude the day.
